The J&J line of ceramic barrels has been a mainstay for recreational and professional paintball players alike for some time now. I decided to purchase one for my Viewloader Maxis Pro marker & see what the talk is all about. Here's my review: Product: 16" Ceramic Barrel by J&J Performance Tested: By Charlie McElvy; speedball, woodlands ball, scenario play (mostly recreational) Review: The barrel is pretty unassuming -- other than the fact that it's 16" long -- which belies its nature. I got teased a little for having such a long barrel in woodlands play at first, but now most of the guys target me & my J&J first! Here's why: the barrel enables your marker to better equalize the CO2 pressure upon firing. This helps to reduce spin, and normalizes the release of the projectiles. They fly a bit further versus your stock barrels, are more accurate for a deeper range, and, perhaps best of all, reduces the noise from the marker. That makes you a bit harder to locate... I don't know if the noise-reduction is a result of the barrel's design, or makeup (i.e., the ceramic coating), but I do know that it makes a difference. When lying in the brush in woodlands play, I can take out 2-3 guys, on a good day, without them knowing where the hits came from -- other than location of the impact. This helps a TON when they have teammates in the area -- they aren't as likely to notice where the shots came from, and aren't as capable of locating you, assuming you're well-covered. While the length of the barrel can sometimes be annoying (esp. in woodlands play), once you're used to the area it takes up, you make up for it with general cognizance of your marker's physical reach. Kinda like knowing where your hands are, even when your eyes are closed. The barrel is easy to clean, though you need a long squeegie to get in there, and is truly an asset to my woodlands game. Recommended!! Rating: 9/10 Reasons for Point Reduction (if applicable): length of the barrel takes some getting used to, and makes running through woods occasionally tricky.
